About The Position

At Elderwood, our Mission is People Caring for People. The RN Educator plays a crucial role in ensuring that our nursing staff is well-prepared and compliant with the necessary educational programs. This position involves working collaboratively with management and nursing governance representatives to implement orientation, compliance, and continuing in-service education programs for facility personnel. The RN Educator is responsible for developing, coordinating, and evaluating educational programs that facilitate the orientation and ongoing development of staff. This includes planning and implementing educational programs for all facility personnel, particularly focusing on the orientation of new hires and operational techniques. In addition to these responsibilities, the RN Educator may serve as the primary instructor for the Nursing Assistant Training Program and/or act as the infection preventionist at the facility. The role requires a strong understanding of clinical aspects of the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system, as the RN Educator is recognized as a “super user” and serves as a resource for facility staff. The RN Educator will also schedule, teach, and lead various certification programs, including Basic Life Support (BLS) and IV certification, while maintaining necessary equipment and records. The RN Educator will perform staff vaccinations, health screenings, and other medical testing as assigned, and will collaborate with Unit Managers and Nurse Preceptors to assist with annual clinical skills competency testing for licensed nursing staff. This position also involves mentoring new nurses and Nurse Preceptors, providing education and support during department-based orientation. The RN Educator coordinates and leads mandatory in-service education for facility staff, plans and leads the General Orientation Program, and oversees the Nursing Assistant Training Program, including Prometric testing for Nursing Assistant Trainees. Regular training programs will be scheduled to ensure compliance with in-service education requirements, and the RN Educator will track and report on educational hours and module completion using the Learning Management System (LMS).
