About The Position

The Director of Nursing (DON) at LIFESTREAM BEHAVIORAL CENTER is responsible for overseeing the nursing department to ensure the delivery of high-quality care to patients. This role involves strategic planning, management, and coordination of nursing services, aligning them with the center's mission and objectives. The DON will lead a team of nursing professionals, fostering a collaborative environment to enhance patient outcomes and support the center's commitment to excellence in behavioral health care.

Requirements

  • Registered Nurses licensed in the State of Florida required.
  • Associates Degree in Nursing required.
  • Three (3) years’ experience in the Nursing Mental Health Field with a thorough understanding of the psychiatric patient required.
  • Requires thorough understanding of the principles of adult learning, preferably with experience developing and implementing educational programs.
  • Minimum of five (5) year of Supervisory or management experience required
  • Minimum of Two (2) years nursing management experience in a mental health facility required.
  • Strong leadership and management skills with the ability to effectively lead and motivate a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with staff, patients, and families.
  • Ability to develop and implement nursing policies and procedures to ensure high standards of care.
  • Proficient in budgeting and resource management to optimize departmental operations.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to make critical decisions under pressure.
  • Knowledge of healthcare regulations and compliance standards related to nursing practice.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to enhance patient outcomes.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or Education preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement nursing policies and procedures to ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and standards.
  • Lead and manage the nursing staff, including recruitment, training, and performance evaluations.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals and departments to ensure integrated patient care.
  • Monitor patient care quality and implement improvement initiatives as needed.
  • Manage the nursing department's budget, resources, and equipment to optimize efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Serve as a liaison between the nursing staff and executive management, providing updates and reports on departmental activities.
  • Address and resolve any issues related to patient care or staff performance promptly.
  • Stay informed about the latest developments in nursing practice and healthcare regulations to maintain the highest standards of care.
  • Promote a culture of continuous learning and professional development among the nursing staff.
