About The Position

The Director of Nursing (DON) at LIFESTREAM BEHAVIORAL CENTER is responsible for overseeing the nursing department to ensure the delivery of high-quality care to patients. This role involves strategic planning, management, and coordination of nursing services, aligning them with the center's mission and objectives. The DON will lead a team of nursing professionals, fostering a collaborative environment to enhance patient outcomes and support the center's commitment to excellence in behavioral health care.

Requirements

Registered Nurses licensed in the State of Florida required.
Associates Degree in Nursing required.
Three (3) years’ experience in the Nursing Mental Health Field with a thorough understanding of the psychiatric patient required.
Requires thorough understanding of the principles of adult learning, preferably with experience developing and implementing educational programs.
Minimum of five (5) year of Supervisory or management experience required
Minimum of Two (2) years nursing management experience in a mental health facility required.
Strong leadership and management skills with the ability to effectively lead and motivate a team.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with staff, patients, and families.
Ability to develop and implement nursing policies and procedures to ensure high standards of care.
Proficient in budgeting and resource management to optimize departmental operations.
Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to make critical decisions under pressure.
Knowledge of healthcare regulations and compliance standards related to nursing practice.
Ability to work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to enhance patient outcomes.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or Education preferred.

Responsibilities

Develop and implement nursing policies and procedures to ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and standards.
Lead and manage the nursing staff, including recruitment, training, and performance evaluations.
Collaborate with other healthcare professionals and departments to ensure integrated patient care.
Monitor patient care quality and implement improvement initiatives as needed.
Manage the nursing department's budget, resources, and equipment to optimize efficiency and effectiveness.
Serve as a liaison between the nursing staff and executive management, providing updates and reports on departmental activities.
Address and resolve any issues related to patient care or staff performance promptly.
Stay informed about the latest developments in nursing practice and healthcare regulations to maintain the highest standards of care.
Promote a culture of continuous learning and professional development among the nursing staff.
