The RN provides care consistent with ASPAN standards and evidence-based practice. The RN is responsible for participating in the growth of the nursing profession and continuous improvement to achieve best practice in our unit to increase the value of care we provide to our patients and families. F ast-paced, patient and family-centered, pediatric PeriAnesthesia care is provided in this department . Pediatric patient populations range from neonates to young adults and include ambulatory, inpatient, urgent/emergent surgeries, after hour’s sedation and prolonged procedural recoveries. Positive collegial relationships with all interdisciplinary team members. Cross trained to Pediatric Sedation Unit. Pediatric Sedation Service provides pediatric patient and family-centered care for children who require sedation for procedures and tests. Staff work under the direction of Pediatric Anesthesiologists. In our fast-paced setting, we foster professional role and relationship competence. We strive for excellence in interdepartmental partnerships. Flexibility, rapid assessments and interventions for quick case turnovers are key. Positive family engagement with skills in developmentally appropriate distraction techniques, and comfort positioning are emphasized.
