Requirements

  • Registered Nurse (RN) – Licensed through the Virginia Department of Health Professions (required)
  • 2+ years of experience in Senior Living, Long-Term Care, or Rehab (required)
  • 2+ years of leadership/supervisory experience (required)
  • CPR/BLS Certification through American Heart Association, American Red Cross, or American Safety and Health Institute (within 30 days)
  • Participation in on-call rotation
  • Ability to support weekends and occasional irregular hours as needed
  • Strong clinical leadership with a hands-on, approachable style
  • Deep understanding of long-term care and/or rehabilitation services
  • Proven ability to navigate regulatory environments and survey processes
  • A balance of operational discipline and people-first leadership
  • The ability to lead through both structure and relationships (because both matter here)

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (preferred)
  • Master’s Degree in Nursing (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Direct and oversee all nursing services to ensure high-quality, resident-centered care
  • Ensure comprehensive Plans of Care are developed, updated, and executed in collaboration with interdisciplinary teams
  • Maintain a strong presence on the floor—supporting staff, coaching leaders, and staying connected to resident needs
  • Partner with therapy, dietary, social services, pharmacy, and physicians to deliver coordinated care
  • Ensure full compliance with state, federal, and Riverside Health standards
  • Lead survey readiness and maintain continuous compliance across all clinical areas
  • Oversee infection prevention, safety initiatives, and clinical competency standards
  • Collaborate with Medical Director and attending physicians to ensure compliant and effective care delivery
  • Build, mentor, and retain a high-performing nursing team
  • Oversee staffing, scheduling, and workforce planning to meet operational needs
  • Lead orientation, training, and ongoing competency development
  • Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and respect (where people actually want to stay)
  • Lead the Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) program
  • Monitor clinical outcomes and implement data-driven improvements
  • Partner with other Riverside entities (rehab, home health, hospice, outpatient services) to ensure continuity of care
  • Work closely with Administration and Admissions to support smooth resident transitions and census management
  • Contribute to policy development, program enhancements, and strategic initiatives
  • Serve as a key liaison between clinical teams, families, and system leadership
