RN Director, Inpatient Services
About The Position
The RN Director of Inpatient Services provides leadership and operational oversight for inpatient nursing departments, including Medical-Surgical (Med-Surg), Progressive Care Unit (PCU), and Intensive Care Unit (ICU) . This role supports the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) in ensuring the delivery of high-quality, safe, and efficient patient care. The Director is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing practice across multiple units, maintaining accountability for quality outcomes, staff competency, and resource management. The position carries 24/7 operational responsibility for assigned departments and plays a key role in driving clinical excellence and fostering a positive, collaborative team culture.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
- Master of Science in Nursing (MSN)
- Minimum 2 years of progressive management experience in a hospital setting (Manager or full-time Charge Nurse or equivalent).
- Strong background in Medical-Surgical nursing or related acute care leadership experience.
- Active RN license in the state of residence/practice (current and unrestricted).
- AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
- Additional certifications as required by state regulations or facility policy.
- Proven leadership and interpersonal communication skills.
- Strong operational and clinical decision-making abilities.
- Ability to serve as a mentor and advocate for nursing professionalism.
- Commitment to evidence-based practice and continuous improvement.
