About The Position

Our Kidney Dialysis Unit (KDU), located at Alamance Regional Medical Center, is a 6-bay suite with a primary focus on patients with End Stage Kidney Disease (ESKD) and Acute Kidney Injury (AKI). We also focus on patients who need Peritoneal Dialysis (PD). This is a fast-paced procedural area with remarkable team collaboration and diversity. The Registered Nurse RN Dialysis Staff position involves providing specialized nursing care to patients undergoing dialysis treatment. Operating within a dialysis unit, this role collaborates with healthcare teams to deliver comprehensive care, monitor patients during procedures, and ensure adherence to dialysis protocols for optimal patient well-being.

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree in Nursing
  • 2 years as a Registered Nurse with 1 year in a clinical specialty as defined by ANCC or national nursing organizations
  • Registered Nurse license in North Carolina or a Compact state
  • BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing

Responsibilities

  • Monitors and assesses patients' vital signs and overall condition during dialysis sessions to ensure safe and effective treatment.
  • Administers prescribed medications and treatments, including heparin administration and fluid management, to patients undergoing dialysis.
  • Operates and maintains dialysis equipment, ensuring its proper functioning and cleanliness for each session.
  • Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement comprehensive care plans tailored to patients' specific needs.
  • Educates patients and their families about the dialysis process, self-care techniques, and dietary restrictions to promote optimal outcomes and quality of life.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
