About The Position

Horizon Health is a Critical Access, Rural Health Facility comprised of 25-inpatient beds located in Paris, IL & a multitude of outpatient clinic settings including Family Practice and Specialty Clinics in Paris and surrounding cities. We have been serving residents of Edgar County since 1968 though community education, emergency services, and outpatient care. The hemodialysis registered nurse is proficient in providing hemodialysis therapies to patients in with chronic renal failure. The registered nurse works under the supervision of the Nurse Manager, Medical Director, and patient’s physician. The hemodialysis registered nurse must possess the physical capabilities to successfully perform the job as stated in the physical requirements. Adherence to all policies and procedures is required.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
  • Current nursing license in state of Illinois.
  • One or more years of current nursing experience preferred.
  • CPR Certification.
  • ACLS Certification.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and enforce all company and facility-approved procedures and policies.
  • Completes admission process as outlined in policies and procedure.
  • Performs competent hemodialysis treatments.
  • Performs set-up and maintenance of hemodialysis equipment.
  • Cross train to peritoneal dialysis.
  • Cross train to inpatient hemodialysis.
  • Provides immediate supervision of direct patient care.
  • Troubleshoots machine alarms as appropriate.
  • Safely operates all dialysis-related equipment.
  • Reports machine problems to mechanical technician.
  • Be familiar with all emergency equipment and all emergency operational procedures.
  • Cleans, disinfects and rinses dialysis machines according to protocol.
  • Provides teaching to patients.
  • Assists physicians during patient rounds.
  • Administers medications to patients.
  • Transcribes and implements physician orders.
  • Seeks to improve work processes and participates in work improvement process and committees.
  • Participates in staff training.
  • Participates in continuous quality improvement activities.
  • Participate in Patient Care Planning meetings.
  • Participate in gathering data for comparative and trending; to help identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Assist Charge Nurse with other related work as assigned.
  • Responsible for reporting all incidents, information, complaints or problems to the Nurse Manager.
  • Delegates and oversees non-licensed direct care staff.
