About The Position

The RN Dialysis-Outpatient position at the University of Mississippi Medical Center involves providing education to patients and staff, consulting with physicians and nursing staff regarding the care of patients on dialysis, and performing job duties in accordance with the medical center's purpose. Requirements

• Must be licensed as RN for one (1) year.
• Two (2) years of RN experience in specified area preferred.
• BSN preferred.
• Valid RN license required.

Responsibilities

• Assesses patients for dialysis needs.
• Provides safe and effective dialysis to patients.
• Interprets lab values for critical levels and maintains ability to operate hemodialysis machines, continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT), and slow low efficient dialysis (sled).
• Precepts new employees.
• Attends federally required inter-disciplinary care committee (IDCC) meetings.
• Monitors patients for adult dialysis.
• Monitors CRRT, hemodialysis, and all peritoneal dialysis.
• Audits equipment and coordinates Dialysis Tech II and LPN IIs.
• Performs as charge nurse as needed.
• Consults with physicians and nursing staff on a 24 hour basis.
• Serves on at least one nursing council, hospital, or medical center committee, task force, or project team to improve patient care or work area.
• Demonstrates core standards of exceptional customer service.
