About The Position

Christie Clinic's department of Dermatology is seeking a full-time RN at the University clinic from Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm, with no night or weekend requirements. Duties include the provision of professional nursing care for clinic patients following established standards and practices.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing or practical nursing
  • Evidence of annual completion of health related courses and/or seminars with a certificate and/or CEU’s
  • Possession of an Illinois State Registered Nurse License or Practical Nursing License
  • CPR Certification

Responsibilities

  • Administer prescribed medications, vaccines, injections, treatment, suture removals, etc. in accordance with nursing standards and as directed by provider.
  • Prepare equipment and aid provider during treatment, procedures, examination and/or testing of the patient.
  • Observe, record and report patient’s condition and reaction to medication and/or treatment to provider.
  • Act as a liaison between the patient and provider regarding complaints, concerns.
  • Advise patients of labs/pathology reports and book appropriate follow up/treatment appointments.
  • Provide patient education on medications, skin conditions, wound care, pathology/lab results, etc.
  • Demonstrate the ability to respond to triage calls using nursing assessment.
  • Assist providers in procedures; such as biopsies, excisions, and closures.
  • Monitor patients during procedures and provide after care.
  • Complete worklist in timely manner.
  • Manage nurse alert cart, attend nurse alert meetings and respond to nurse alerts, as needed
  • Assist with the flow of patient appointments.
  • Implement and nurture continuous quality improvement within and across the department.
  • Capable of administering high risk medications/anesthetizing skin prior to procedures.
  • Ability to collaborate with multiple providers and carry out orders.
  • Perform related work as required.
  • Track melanoma patients and post-transplant patients, report findings to co-coordinators
  • Management of department medications including versed and medication fridge
  • Assist in training new LPN/RN employees and report progress to co-coordinators
