POSITION SUMMARY The CVOR Perioperative Nurse is a full performance level professional nurse position which provides direct and indirect perioperative patient and family centered care for patients as a member of the cardio-vascular surgical team by assuming the role of either the Circulator Nurse or the 2nd Scrub/Assist Nurse. The incumbent prepares the operating room prior to any surgery or procedure, anticipates and responds to the needs of the surgical team during an operation/procedure, and incorporates differences into the provisions of care to promote safe and therapeutic care for the patient in a holistic and systematic way. Integrates knowledge, skills, and experiences to meet the needs of the patients and surgical team throughout the operation/procedure. Utilizes standards, guidelines, protocols, and pathways for care delivery. Incorporates data and information to continuously improve care and practice to enhance outcomes. Ensures improvements in practice settings by assuming responsibility for self-development. The CVOR Perioperative Nurse is responsible for providing surgical patient care by assessing, planning, and implementing the nursing care patients receive before, during, and after surgery. These activities include creating and maintaining a sterile and safe surgical environment throughout the surgical care continuum. Work is performed independently with general supervision of a Nursing Supervisor. Required emergency call coverage and response time dictated by EAMC policy. POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
