The position involves obtaining nursing history, performing nursing assessments, and developing plans of care for patients. The role requires a comprehensive understanding of patient care responsibilities, including the ability to perform head-to-toe assessments, prioritize during high acuity situations, and demonstrate knowledge of medications and their administration based on patient age and clinical condition. The nurse will also assist physicians with procedures, care for post-surgical patients, and treat patients and their families with respect and dignity, addressing their psychosocial, cultural, ethnic, and religious/spiritual needs. The role emphasizes communication, documentation, and collaboration with other healthcare team members to ensure an interdisciplinary approach to patient care. Additionally, the nurse is expected to maintain a safe and therapeutic environment, participate in performance improvement activities, and enhance their professional growth through ongoing education.
