About The Position

The Nursing Professional Development (NPD) Practitioner functions as a learning facilitator, change agent, mentor, leader, champion for inquiry, advocate for NPD specialty and partner for practice transitions as they guide the learner toward desired outcomes. The NPD Practitioner continuously uses environmental scanning to intentionally assess opportunities and challenges within and externally to the organization, and identifies opportunities based on global and national healthcare trends, legislative changes, needs of collaborative partners, educational gaps, emerging technologies, and the clinical staff member's desire for growth. The NPD Practitioner actively interacts with learners to contribute to nursing professional development processes and ensures the achievement of measurable outcomes, influences professional role competence and growth of learners in a variety of settings.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates alignment with AdventHealth's mission, vision, and service standards.
• Supports learners in interprofessional practice and learning environments to facilitate continuous development and learning for the healthcare team.
• Creates, plans, implements, and coordinates orientation for individuals new to the nursing unit/department using the NPD standards of practice.
• Adjusts implementation strategies based on the learner's developmental level, learning needs, readiness, ability to learn, language, and cultural preferences.
• Engages learners in planned educational activities through effective facilitation skills.
• Creates, plans, implements, and coordinates activities related to training of new graduates, experienced nurses, and ancillary staff new to the unit/department.
