About The Position

Maintains and advances the quality of nursing care by assisting with the planning, implementing and coordinating of programs and methods for evaluating patient care with the goal of attaining, maintaining, and restoring optimum health. Works with the Department of Nursing, Performance Improvement, physicians and other departments to support and achieve goals of clinical quality through medical record abstraction, integration of data and analysis of variances. Supports the Grievance Coordinator with formal complaint/compliment mechanism. Assists in creating a positive image for Summa by assisting to enhance the patient and families' hospital experience by identifying obstacles to improve the delivery of quality care services. Analyzes and interprets patient data to assess quality of care in relation to investigation of and triage/resolution of patient complaints.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (BSN)
  • Applicants with an Associate's degree will be considered but are required to obtain BSN within three (3) years of employment
  • Graduate of a program of professional nursing that is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) or Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN)
  • Current license to practice registered nursing in the State of Ohio
  • Three (3) years recent professional nursing experience
  • Prior experience in performance improvement activities
  • Knowledge of personal computers- Microsoft Office (word, excel, power-point) and Outlook
  • Maintains a commitment to quality and service in all aspects of his/her work and strives for continuous organizational improvement
  • Ability to interact with, and is empathetic to people when dealing with sensitive and/or controversial issues while maintaining confidentiality as a high priority

  • Ability to develop and maintain record keeping systems and procedures
  • Possesses thorough understanding of data, database and use of data
  • Possesses knowledge and skills in pertinent database applications
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of patient information in all audit activities and performance improvement activities as applicable
  • Population Specific Competency: Ability to effectively interact with populations of patients/customers with an understanding of their needs for self-respect and dignity
