About The Position

The CNA instructor is responsible for leading and directing students toward their goal of satisfactory completion of the Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) course. The instructor will provide instruction within the CNA program, teach approved curriculum and course work, assist in patient care and clinical teaching situations, and perform administrative duties that support the apprenticeship. This includes coordinating with the admin assistant at Midlands Technical College, managing daily calendars, and communicating with current apprentices and potential candidates. The instructor will also review applications, schedule interviews, and coordinate with pre-employment appointments. Additionally, the instructor will update curriculum as needed and evaluate students' progress.

Requirements

  • Minimum: Associates in Nursing (ADN).
  • Preferred: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
  • Minimum: One (1) year of inpatient RN experience.
  • Minimum: One (1) year of long-term care, Rehab or LPN experience.
  • Preferred: Three (3) years of inpatient RN experience.
  • Licensure as a registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing or a compact state.
  • Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or American Red Cross BLS for Healthcare Providers certification.

  • Teaching or didactic teaching experience.

Responsibilities

  • Provide instruction within the CNA program and teach approved curriculum.

  • Coordinate with offers and pre-employment appointments.
  • Send completed initial intake paperwork to Midlands Technical College.
  • Coordinate with IT team to set up new classes in D2L.
  • Update curriculum customized to each cohort.
  • Grade written assignments and create new practice assignments.
  • Coordinate clinicals and schedule on-the-job training for apprentices.
  • Evaluate students' progress and provide feedback.
