About The Position

The primary role is to develop the Medical Assistant Teams and Medical Assistant Leads at SCL Health Medical Group Clinics with a focus on workflows, protocols and team building and development. This role will strongly collaborate with the Clinic Managers and partner with Process Improvement, Ambulatory Informatics, Pharmacy and other system resources.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing; Associate Degree in Nursing (ASN).
  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
  • Current Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS-HCP) certification from the American Heart Association.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Registered Nurse.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
  • 3+ years of clinical nursing experience, preferably in primary or specialty care.
  • 1+ years of leadership or management experience, including process improvement and change management.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and coach Medical Assistants (MAs) to ensure high performance and professional growth.
  • Create and maintain orientation and training materials for MA and MA Lead roles; collaborate with Lead MAs to ensure effective onboarding and ongoing education.
  • Facilitate strong working relationships between providers and MAs to enhance patient-centered care.
  • Serve as a Subject Matter Expert on the MA Scope of Practice.
  • Recommend quality improvement initiatives by analyzing workflows and redesigning processes for efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Oversee MA responsibilities related to pharmacy guidelines, including vaccine administration, controlled substances, CLIA proficiency, and medication safety practices.
  • Identify, develop, implement, and standardize MA protocols across clinics.
  • Actively participate in clinic Quality Improvement (QI) meetings to support MA-driven measures (e.g., inreach initiatives) and contribute to process improvement projects.
  • Support the interview process by advising Lead MAs on candidate selection.
  • Promote the mission, vision, and values of SCL Health and adhere to service behavior standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
