Per Diem Monday through Friday days. The per diem clinical research registered nurse is an integral member of an interdisciplinary team in the Neuroendocrine unit (Department of Medicine), supporting various clinical studies to evaluate appetite-regulating hormones in individuals across the age and weight spectrum, including those with eating disorders as well as studies examining the effects of oxytocin on metabolism and body composition. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of two years RN experience. Preference will be given to those with prior experience working with individuals with these conditions or strong interest in learning and being trained in this area are important aspects of this position. In this role, the RN promotes collaborative relationships between investigators, study nurse practitioners, study coordinators, research participants, the research pharmacy, and MGH Translational and Clinical Research Center staff in order to provide continuity of care for research study participants and to ensure efficient use of resources. Requirements

  • Associate's Degree Nursing required or Bachelor's Degree Nursing preferred

  • Licenses and Credentials Registered Nurse [RN - State License] - Generic - HR Only required
  • Clinical nursing experience 0-1 year required
  • Familiarity with the principles and skills needed for practical nursing to provide patient care and treatment.
  • Knowledgeable of the care required by respective age groups for which care is being provided.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and secure sensitive information.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Excellent verbal and communication skills.
  • Ability to accurately screen and triage acute patients.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate, detailed reports, and records.
  • Administer medications to patients and monitor patients for reactions or side effects.
  • Record patients' medical information and vital signs.
  • Monitor, record, and report symptoms or changes in patients' conditions.
  • Consult and coordinate with healthcare team members to assess, plan, implement, or evaluate patient care plans.
  • Modify patient treatment plans as indicated by patients' responses and conditions.
