About The Position

The RN Clinical Nurse II position in the PreOp/Post Anesthesia Care Unit at NC Surgical Hospital involves providing competent clinical nursing care consistent with professional standards. The role requires coordinating and delivering patient care utilizing the nursing process in a hospital setting. The nurse will report to the Nurse Manager/Director and is expected to participate in various responsibilities including education, evaluation of care, implementation of care plans, leadership, patient assessment, planning, and research.

Requirements

• Graduation from a school of professional nursing.
• Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of North Carolina.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification.
• One (1) year of nursing experience.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in PACU, ED, or ICU.
• ACLS & PALS certification.

Responsibilities

• Participates in identifying and meeting learning needs of self and attends education programs based on identified learning needs.
• Identifies expected patient outcomes and seeks guidance as needed in revision of the plan of care.
• Demonstrates competence in care of patients with complex problems, including physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety aspects of care.
• Develops goals to promote professional growth and achieves goals within identified time frames.
• Recognizes data from complex situations to determine priorities for care and synthesizes assessment data into meaningful whole.
• Collaborates with patient/family to prepare or update the plan of care and identifies cultural and ethnic issues in planning patient care.
• Reads journals that contain studies or articles applicable to practice and brings ideas to the staff for assessment.
