The UNC REX Emergency Department is a 54-bed facility equipped to provide comprehensive emergency care for a wide range of medical needs. In addition to the main treatment areas, the ED includes an 8-bed non-designated holding unit with private rooms specifically designed to support behavioral health patients. Our department features two major resuscitation rooms, dedicated triage rooms for initial assessments, an in-department radiology suite, and a fully equipped decontamination room. The ED team delivers expert care for patients experiencing life-threatening emergencies, minor injuries, acute illnesses, and behavioral health crises. Staffing ratios are tailored to patient acuity, with a standard nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4 and a 1:5 ratio in Zone 4. The REX ED Leadership team fosters a collaborative, high-performance environment, emphasizing teamwork and consistent recognition of staff contributions in this fast-paced setting. Summary: Provides competent clinical nursing care consistent with professional standards. Reporting and accountable to the Nurse Manager/Director, the Clinical Nurse is responsible for coordinating and delivering patient care utilizing the nursing process in a hospital setting.
