About The Position

The Cardiovascular and Thoracic Critical Care Unit is located in the new, state-of-the-art North Carolina Surgical Hospital and is part of the UNC Center for Heart and Vascular Care. This fast-paced, Beacon Award for Excellence -designated, 40-bed unit specializes in the care of critically ill patients with cardiothoracic and vascular disease. Key Features of the Unit include being located within the advanced North Carolina Surgical Hospital, being part of the renowned UNC Center for Heart and Vascular Care, and providing expert care to patients with cardiothoracic and vascular conditions. Common Surgical Procedures include Coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG), Heart valve repairs and replacements, Heart transplants and lung transplants, Left Ventricular Assist Device (LVAD) implementation, Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO), Aortic and thoracic aneurysm repairs, and Complex esophageal, thoracic, and vascular surgeries. CTCCU is currently accepting applications for candidates interested in Stepdown/ Intermediate level care positions. This position qualifies for our UNC Hospitals RN Incentive Program, which includes up to $20,000 commitment incentive or up to $25,000 tuition loan forgiveness. In addition, this position is also eligible for up to $10,000 in relocation assistance (based on location) and our employee referral program.

Requirements

  • Graduation from a school of professional nursing.
  • Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of North Carolina.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification.
  • One (1) year of nursing experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree with a major in Nursing or a Master's degree with a major in Nursing within seven years of employment date.
