About The Position

Join our highly skilled team of clinical nurse coordinators who work with WashU Head-Neck surgical oncology patients within our multidisciplinary Head and Neck Tumor Center. Our patients present with many challenges and we work hard to give them the highest level of coordinated care. Our department surgeons are our partners and we learn from each other. We are fortunate to offer our patients multidisciplinary care and interact daily with our colleagues in Radiation Oncology, Medical Oncology, Speech-Language Pathology, Radiology, our inpatient and Head-Neck Survivorship PA’s, and Social, Dentistry, Nutrition, and Counseling services. Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program with two years of nursing experience.
  • Current RN licensure in the state of Missouri and/or Illinois, depending on location, in accordance with the Compact Act.
  • Basic Life Support Certification or obtains certification within one month of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Provides direct patient care, including assessment, planning, implementation, education and evaluation of patients; conveys findings to physician.
  • Coordinates patient care, orders diagnostic tests, conveys findings to physician, coordinates patient appointments and assists with referrals to outside sources.
  • Assists physician and provides support with examinations, procedures and other processes related to direct patient care.
  • Performs a variety of nursing administrative duties, including compliance with environmental safety regulations, infection control standards and quality assurance.
  • Acts as liaison and team leader by facilitating communication and coordination of care between patients, families and health team members; explains routines and procedures to patients and coordinates patient care information to appropriate sources.
