About The Position

The Clinical Coordinator for Patient Education oversees, develops, and manages patient education programs to ensure patients and families receive high-quality, evidence-based information tailored to their needs. This role bridges clinical care and educational outreach, ensuring materials and initiatives meet literacy, cultural, and clinical standards, while supporting staff training and compliance with institutional and regulatory guidelines.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field
  • 3 to 5 years of healthcare experience

Nice To Haves

  • Master's Degree in Education, or a related field
  • Experience with electronic health records (EPIC preferred)
  • Nursing Professional Development (NPD-BC) or Patient Education.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the development, review, and approval of patient education materials and resources across service lines.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including physicians, nurses, allied health professionals, and marketing.
  • Assess patient and family educational needs and identify gaps in current offerings.
  • Lead or support the Patient Education Committee (PEC) or similar institutional groups.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with accreditation standards (e.g., The Joint Commission, Magnet, CMS) related to patient education.
  • Assist with running reports, data and creating power Bi reports etc.
  • Develop and collaborate with education department for staff education and training sessions needed on projects implemented through patient education and to implement effective patient teaching strategies and use of approved resources.
  • Assist in projects related to integration of patient education resources into electronic health records (e.g., Epic) and digital platforms.
  • Track, analyze, and report on patient education metrics and outcomes, related projects; recommend improvements based on data.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on patient education during quality improvement initiatives and accreditation surveys.
  • Carries out the day-to-day coordination of patient education projects and initiatives designed by the Manager.
  • Serves as the link between frontline staff and leadership, gathering feedback, identifying barriers, and reporting these insights to the Manager.
  • Brings practical, unit-level challenges and successes to the Manager's attention to help guide future strategies.
  • Supports the Manager by helping prepare for meetings, presentations, and committee work (such as the PEC), providing data, updates, and progress reports.
  • May represent the Manager in meetings or working groups when needed.
  • Assists the Manager in piloting new patient education initiatives, helping coordinate unit participation, collecting data, and providing feedback on implementation.
