The following statements reflect the general duties considered necessary to describe the principal functions of the job as identified and shall not be considered as a detailed description of all the work requirements, which may be inherent in the position. The Oncology RN is responsible for providing professional nursing care to adult and geriatric patients with hematologic and oncologic diseases. He/She is responsible for assisting the medical and radiation oncologists with patients in clinic, with primary responsibility to the medical oncologist(s). This position functions under the authority of the Clinical Oncology Manager in accordance with the nursing guidelines provided by the Director of Nursing for Marshall Medical Center South and the policies and procedures for Marshall Medical Centers. This RN is responsible for all nursing care activities; initial assessment of patients, execute nursing care plans, providing direct nursing care, patient education, assisting physician with procedures and interacting with Social Services as needed to provide patient resources.
