To provide and manage patient care in a clinical area for specific age and patient populations. To deliver care to patients utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, intervention, implementation and evaluation. To work within codes of practice and professional guidelines. To accurately and efficiently triage the telephone calls that are received from patients, their caregiver, relatives and other members of the healthcare team. To prioritize patient health problems according to their urgency, educate/advise patients, schedule appointments and make safe, effective clinical decisions under the direction of the patient's physician.

  • Provide and manage patient care in a clinical area for specific age and patient populations.
  • Deliver care to patients utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, intervention, implementation and evaluation.
  • Work within codes of practice and professional guidelines.
  • Accurately and efficiently triage telephone calls from patients, caregivers, relatives, and other healthcare team members.
  • Prioritize patient health problems according to their urgency.
  • Educate and advise patients.
  • Schedule appointments.
  • Make safe, effective clinical decisions under the direction of the patient's physician.
  • Associate's degree in Nursing.
  • One (1) year of clinical nursing experience required.
  • Currently licensed or eligible to be licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) by the Alabama Board of Nursing.
  • Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification required or must be obtained within thirty (30) days.
  • Self-directed and self-motivated.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to perform a variety of duties often changing from one task to another without loss of efficiency or composure.
  • Ability to accept responsibility for the direction, control, and planning of one's own work.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to recognize the rights and responsibilities of patient confidentiality.
  • Ability to convey empathy and compassion to those experiencing pain, physical or emotional distress and/or grief.
  • Ability to relate to others in a manner which creates a sense of teamwork and cooperation.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with people from every socioeconomic, cultural and educational background.
  • Exhibit flexibility and cope effectively in an ever-changing, fast-paced healthcare environment.
  • Perform effectively when confronted with emergency, critical, unusual or dangerous situations.
  • Demonstrate a quality work ethic of doing the right thing the right way.
  • Maintain a customer focus and strive to satisfy the customer's perceived needs.
