About The Position

The RN – Clinic Educator collaborates with clinic leadership, nursing management, providers, and staff all BRHC clinics and associated ambulatory services under the direction of the Director of Clinical Education to assess, plan, develop, implement, facilitate, evaluate, and revise education and competency programming for clinic-based nursing personnel and clinical non-nursing personnel. The RN – Clinic Educator serves as a key resource for new employee orientation, onboarding, continuing education, annual competencies, quality initiatives, and regulatory readiness for clinic operations. This role supports clinic teams through evidence-based education, workflow standardization, clinical documentation support, competency validation, and promotion of best practices aligned with organization goals, applicable regulations, and accreditation requirements. This will be accomplished through participation in and design of clinic-focused classes, in-services, skills validation, coaching, and competency-based education that meet the standards and goals of the Rural Health Clinics, the organization’s Nursing Department, and all applicable regulatory requirements. The RN – Clinic Educator reports directly to the RN – Director of Clinical Education. The RN -- Clinic Educator also collaborates and directly interacts with Clinic Directors and Managers.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
  • Current Registered Nurse Licensure in the State of Missouri.
  • BLS required (Instructor preferred).
  • Minimum of three (3) years of nursing experience, with at least one (1) year in clinic practice.
  • Demonstrates support for organizational and departmental mission.
  • Supports and demonstrates knowledge of the Strategic Plan and key initiatives for the healthcare center and clinics.
  • Fosters and promotes teamwork within department, clinic sites, and the organization as a whole.
  • Works to resolve conflicts constructively and in a timely manner.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and simply with every customer and coworker, including diverse clinic roles and interdisciplinary teams.
  • Ability to display a positive, courteous, and friendly attitude toward all contacts.

Nice To Haves

  • Baccalaureate Degree preferred or current enrollment in a BSN program.
  • RN/Teaching experience preferred.
  • Specialty certifications preferred and based on clinic service lines (e.g., ACLS, PALS, NRP, Care Management, Wound Care, Diabetes Education, etc.).
  • Strong clinical base in outpatient/ambulatory practice preferred.
  • Experience working in a rural health clinic setting, multi-site clinic system, or with regulatory surveys/audits preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for providing clinic nursing and support staff with a challenging, supportive learning environment that promotes growth and professional development in ambulatory and rural health practice.
  • Assesses, plans, develops, implements, and evaluates comprehensive education programs to meet orientation, ongoing competency, and professional development needs of clinic nursing leadership, staff, and clinic support personnel.
  • Acts as a role model, mentor, and coach to clinic and support staff to support recruitment, retention, and development of an appropriate skill mix of qualified, competent personnel.
  • Interacts with staff in an ethical, consistent, fair, timely, appropriate, and decisive manner in accordance with organization-wide and Nursing Department policies.
  • Collects and assesses data and information related to clinic education needs and other pertinent situations, including identification of trends, safety issues, workflow barriers, quality measures, and supporting data to determine a comprehensive education plan for RHC staff utilizing classroom education, clinical experiences, and learning technologies.
  • Maintains education records, competency validation documentation, class rosters, and scheduling procedures; assists with testing procedures/grading; tracks certification requirements and clinic-specific competency completion across all BRHC clinic locations.
  • Develops, delivers, and coordinates educational programs as directed (e.g., orientation, annual competencies, clinical skill validation, in-services, continuing education, job-specific and specialty curricula) to support competence and professional growth of clinic nursing and support staff.
  • Supports clinic regulatory readiness and compliance by educating staff on documentation standards, workflow expectations, infection prevention practices, medication safety, immunization protocols, patient communication standards, and other clinic-related operational requirements.
  • Assists with preparation for and response to surveys, audits, and accreditation activities.
  • Collaborates with clinic leadership, providers, quality, infection prevention, clinical informatics and nursing leadership to support quality and performance improvement initiatives, including documentation standards, population health priorities, chronic disease management workflows, patient education processes, and care coordination practices.
  • Assists in development, review, and education of clinical policies, procedures, standing orders, and protocols as requested.
  • Promotes evidence-based practice and standardized workflows across all clinic sites.
  • Participates in strategic planning, ad hoc projects, and educational activities assigned for the department.
  • Communicates effectively with colleagues across the organization and clinic sites to advance goals and improve patient outcomes.
  • Demonstrates cooperation and flexibility in fulfillment of other duties as requested within the scope of the job description, including travel to clinic sites and supporting educational needs during clinic operational hours.
