About The Position

RN will utilize the nursing process - assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation - to support the cardiology patient population in teaching, care planning, follow-up, inbasket management, cardiac triage, and other duties as assigned by cardiology providers. The RN will work with the cardiologist, imaging, cardiac rehabilitation, and clinic staff to support a smooth transition through all phases of medical care and procedures.

Requirements

  • Currently licensed as an RN in the state of Minnesota.
  • Has current BLS certification (or is willing to obtain within two months of employment).
  • Ability to work efficiently, accurately, and maintain positive working relationships.
  • Demonstrated ability to follow and adhere to Grand Itasca Clinic and Hospital policies, vision, mission and values.
  • Maintains reliable and consistent attendance.

Nice To Haves

  • Three years current/recent experience in an ambulatory cardiology practice preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Works collaboratively with the cardiology department providers and related departments to assess the needs of each patient on an individual basis and provide/coordinate the services necessary to meet these needs.
  • Completes pre-assessment for patients having Cardiac Catheterization.
  • Reviews labs to determine if pre-medication is needed for CTA and if so, provides medication education based on provider orders.
  • Performs pre-visit planning for cardiology patients.
  • Manages refills for cardiology practice per refill protocol.
  • Within scope of practice will assist cardiologist to manage consults.
  • Coordinates Cardioversion procedure in collaboration with other departments.
  • Coordinates patient telemedicine visits with cardiology and vascular specialists.
  • Provides education reflected on after visit summary to ensure plan of care.
  • Performs triage calls for cardiology patient needs.
  • Coordinates patient care with cardiology team from University of Minnesota.
  • Performs other patient care needs as directed by the plan of care.
