About The Position

The RN Circulator is responsible for coordinating and overseeing patient care in the Operating Room (OR), ensuring a safe, sterile, and professional environment during surgical procedures. This role is crucial in managing the flow of the OR, supporting the surgical team, and ensuring that patients receive the highest standard of care throughout their surgery.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • 0-6 months of related experience or training in the operating room or perioperative setting.
  • Active RN license.
  • BLS and ACLS certification.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain a sterile environment.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills to work closely with the surgical team.
  • Basic proficiency in software for data entry and word processing.
  • Ability to handle high-stress situations and respond quickly to changing circumstances.

Nice To Haves

  • CNOR (Certified Perioperative Nurse).
  • BSN (Bachelor of Science in Nursing).
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support).

Responsibilities

  • Patient Care Coordination: Coordinate and oversee patient care during surgeries, ensuring effective communication and decision-making with the surgical team.
  • Plan, implement, and evaluate intra-operative care based on individual patient needs and physician orders.
  • Administer medications with a thorough understanding of pharmacology, ensuring accurate documentation.
  • Surgical Preparation and Documentation: Prepare and maintain surgical supplies, equipment, and medications to prevent any delays in patient care.
  • Ensure accurate and comprehensive documentation of patient care and surgical procedures.
  • Maintain a sterile environment in the OR, adhering to sterile techniques and hygiene protocols.
  • Team Collaboration and Problem Solving: Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals to address patient needs and resolve any issues during surgery.
  • Participate in surgical time-outs and patient verification processes to ensure safety and accuracy.
  • Equipment and Supply Management: Ensure proper functionality and cleanliness of OR equipment and supplies, troubleshooting issues as necessary.
  • Maintain inventory of surgical supplies and medications, replenishing as needed to support uninterrupted patient care.
  • Quality Improvement and Compliance: Participate in Quality Improvement activities aimed at enhancing patient care and operational efficiency.
  • Ensure adherence to OR safety standards and protocols, including infection control measures and patient safety initiatives.
  • Additional Responsibilities: Perform other related duties as assigned to support OR operations and patient care.
