About The Position

Ocean Beach Health is seeking a part-time Registered Nurse (RN) Circulator to join their Perioperative Services team. This role is vital in delivering safe, high-quality, patient-centered care throughout the surgical experience. The RN Circulator is responsible for providing direct and indirect care to surgical and procedural patients across the perioperative continuum, from pre-operative admission and assessment, to intra-operative care, post-operative recovery, and discharge. The role also supports scheduling processes, pre-op chart reviews, and central processing functions, ensuring care aligns with regulatory requirements and industry standards for quality, infection control, and patient safety.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
  • Current Washington State RN license
  • BLS certification upon hire (must maintain)
  • ACLS certification within 6 months of hire (must maintain)
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong clinical judgment and prioritization skills
  • Excellent verbal, written, and computer communication skills
  • Ability to stand for extended periods
  • Ability to wear PPE for prolonged periods
  • Strong understanding of infection control practices

Nice To Haves

  • Perioperative experience preferred
  • CNOR certification preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provide perioperative patient care including pre-admit, scheduling, admission, intra-op circulating, recovery, and discharge
  • Serve as a liaison between patients, families, providers, and departments to coordinate care
  • Accurately document assessments and care in the EMR in a timely manner
  • Ensure patient safety by identifying concerns and following OBH policies and procedures
  • Assist with surgical setup, room turnover, case preparation, instrument handling, and decontamination
  • Support department operations including supply management and equipment maintenance
  • Demonstrate teamwork, mentorship, and a commitment to a positive work environment
  • Promote a culture of patient-centered care
  • Follow HR policies, including timekeeping and safety practices
  • Support financial stewardship and responsible use of resources
  • Respond appropriately and effectively in emergency situations
  • Participate in required training and maintain safety awareness
  • Take a fair share of rotational call (benefited staff)
  • Maintain knowledge of perioperative standards (AORN, ASPAN, SGNA, IAHCSMM)
  • Ensure proper patient identification, informed consent, and procedure verification
  • Safely administer medications and monitor patients appropriately
  • Utilize aseptic technique and proper specimen handling
  • Educate patients and families on post-operative care
  • Follow infection control and exposure control protocols
  • Navigate EMR for scheduling, documentation, and communication
  • Assist with quality reporting, chart reviews, and infection control initiatives
