About The Position

Overview The RN identifies patient needs and prioritizes care based on continuous assessment, executes therapeutic physician orders and therapeutic nursing interventions. The RN evaluates the patient's response to care and the attainment of or progress toward expected outcomes. The RN is accountable for outcomes of patient care delivered during the assigned shift. Qualifications Education: Graduate of accredited school of nursing required. Current State of Alabama Nursing License required.Healthcare Provider BLS is required within the orientation period. Experience: Experience preferred, new graduate accepted. Additional Skills/Abilities: Ability to communicate in English with people from diverse socioeconomic backgrounds. Ability to use effective interpersonal relation skills when working with a variety of people and situations. Ability to work in a fast paced environment and adjust to continuing changes in the daily work schedule. Absolute integrity in the accurate performance and reporting of surgical procedures. Must be able to display a positive attitude, cheerfulness, and the willingness to assist when communicating with the public. Initiates assessment based on the patient's presenting problems or needs and the physician's medical diagnosis within the framework of Huntsville Hospital Policy. Completes on-going assessments and updates nursing plan of care. Performs therapeutic interventions consistent with the nature of the unit. Documentation includes: Assessment and ongoing assessment findings. Updated clinical priorities for documentation. Therapeutic nursing interventions with special attention to patient education and discharge planning. Patient's response to interventions and progress towards outcomes are noted. Evaluates and documents the impact of nursing interventions and outcomes based on standards of care and practice. Functions as RN Circulator during surgical procedures. Assists in orientation of new employees and provides support as needed. Demonstrates accountability by staying informed of current changes in practice, new equipment, and quality initiatives. Ability to function as scrub/technician during surgical procedures. Ability to function as second assistant per Huntsville Hospital Policy and Procedure. Requirements
