As a Charge Nurse, you'll oversee a department of frontline nurses caring for patients. It's also important for you to be comfortable holding tough conversations, as you are responsible for the performance of your people and your unit. Completes patient assessments competently. Assesses for and identifies needs of unit-specific patient population: Assesses for and identifies any physical, emotional, psychosocial, spiritual, educational, discharge and cultural needs. Completes an individualized plan of care based on assessment of the patient. Coordinates with other disciplines when indicated. Prioritizes care needs and sets measurable goals and time frames. Includes patient and family in the planning. Demonstrates the ability to recognize and adapt to changes in patients condition (i.e.. LOC change, vital signs, test results)in a timely and clinically appropriate manner. Assesses situations and seeks critical information to make decisions. Implements solutions while reviewing and monitoring effects. Re-evaluates decisions and makes corrective actions when indicated. Establish and maintain effective communication while adhering to expectations of professionalism and camaraderie with co-workers, peers, supervisors and all persons with whom this role must interact in furtherance of completing all job duties. Holds self and others accountable. Uses team skills effectively Participates in ongoing education. Participates in the development of others through mentoring and precepting activities. Uses negotiation and conflict management strategies. Performs other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • 6 months previous acute care RN experience in same unit Required
  • Current and Active Registered Nurse CA
  • AHA Basic Life Support and Advanced Cardiac Life Support
  • Bachelors of Nursing BSN
  • Moderate Sedation training for all monitored areas OR charge nurse experience or comparable leadership roles within a perioperative setting
