Requirements

  • BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross Accepted.
  • Registered Nurse obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
  • Advanced Life Support obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Heart Association or American Red Cross Accepted. Required if working in adult critical care setting.
  • Certification specializing in The S.T.A.B.L.E Program obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date. Required if working in labor & delivery setting.
  • Certification specializing in Neonatal Resuscitation credentialed from the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date. Required if working in labor & delivery setting.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Heart Association or American Red Cross Accepted. Required if working in pediatric critical care setting.
  • Required professional licensure/certification AND 1 year of cumulative job specific experience required.

Nice To Haves

  • 2 years experience high risk L&D, charge experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate unit staffing and provide leadership while ensuring implementation of clinical objectives and quality patient care for one or more assigned nursing specialty areas: Emergency/Triage, Adult or Pediatric/Neonatal Critical Care, Intermediate Care, and Labor & Delivery.
  • Assign, direct, educate and monitor nursing and support associates during assigned shifts.
  • Meet with staff and exercise independent judgment to plan the shifts, services, and patient care.
  • Assess daily patient care needs and develop and distribute patient care assignments, ensuring that population appropriate patient care is given and is accountable for maintaining productivity standards and justify variances to unit manager or designee.
  • Respond to complaint about patient care and manage through established channels.
  • Facilitate availability of adequate material, resources and supplies.
  • Set priorities appropriate to daily patient/physician dynamics.
  • Complete or provide meaningful input into performance evaluations for applicable staff. Make recommendations regarding employee hires, transfers, and promotions.
