About The Position

The Charge Nurse is a licensed professional who contributes their services to providing unit specific management leadership in the areas of first-point-of-contact supervision, direct patient care, patient and staff education, emotional support and education of families and the community in accordance with the mission and philosophy, standards policies, and practices of Enloe Medical Center. The Charge Nurse collaborates with the physician and interprets the medical plan to staff members. They direct performance and supervise assigned staff members and assist the next level of management in directing care of the patient and support of the family. The Charge Nurse supports and contributes to the service excellence mission of Enloe Medical Center and the Surgery Services Department.

Requirements

  • One year of RN experience in a Perianesthesia Care Unit OR one year RN-Charge experience
  • Current licensure with the California Board of Registered Nursing
  • Current CPR certification
  • Current ACLS certificate
  • Current PALS certificate (within one year)
  • Basic Arrhythmia Class (within one year) (dept tracks)
  • Must demonstrate technical competence, professional clinical judgment, communication skills and sensitivity for the patient and family in crisis.
  • Must be able to interact professionally and effectively communicate with physicians, staff, patients and the public.
  • Must have the ability to organize and prioritize work efficiently.
  • Must have the ability to work in a demanding environment while remaining calm, efficient and focused.
  • Must have the ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Must have the ability and willingness to actively participate in continuing education programs, unit based QI task forces and actively participates in preceptor programs.
  • Must have the ability to perform as a preceptor in the training of students, and the ability to act as a department resource and a positive role model
  • Must have the ability to perform the essential functions of the position.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing or related field
  • Two years Critical Care experience or more
  • Perianesthesia relief charge nurse experience
  • One year of current RN experience in a Perianesthesia Care Unit
  • Certified Peri-Anesthesia nurse (CPAN) and/or Certified Ambulatory Peri-Anesthesia (CAPA)
