About The Position
The RN Charge Nurse for the Trauma Recovery Acute Care Unit (TRACU) at Legacy Emanuel Medical Center is a pivotal role that emphasizes the importance of patient-centered care. This position is designed for a nurse who is not only skilled in clinical practices but also possesses strong leadership qualities. The TRACU is a specialized 33-bed unit dedicated to the care of adult trauma patients, particularly those with acute neurosurgical, orthopedic, and multisystem trauma injuries. The RN Charge Nurse will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the unit, ensuring that high standards of care are maintained and that the nursing staff is supported in their roles. This includes facilitating communication among staff, physicians, and management, as well as promoting teamwork and collaboration within the unit. In this role, the RN Charge Nurse will serve as a role model for patient care, demonstrating best practices and advocating for patients and their families. The position requires a comprehensive understanding of trauma care, including the management of complex cases involving portable ventilators, pain management, and pre/post-operative care for neurosurgical patients. The RN Charge Nurse will also be responsible for implementing policies and procedures, managing staffing and scheduling, and contributing to budget management and performance improvement initiatives.
