About The Position

The RN Program Coordinator is responsible for system-wide coordination of all aspects of the application, designation, and re-designation process or programs. Responsible for assuring standards are understood and evidence-based practice and performance excellence are hardwired into all areas of the organization. This role also has primary responsibility for the coordination of clinical quality and performance improvement activities at MHTC. The Coordinator will report to the System Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) and partner with the section CNOs to facilitate and oversee the preparation of documentation, policies, research activities related to acquiring and maintaining programs. The RN Program Coordinator will have the autonomy and authority to work with key nursing leaders and staff to advance the organization's strategic goal. This role requires high visibility with nursing staff at all hospitals and clinics.

Requirements

  • Required Bachelor of Science in Nursing or currently in BSN program. Prefer Masters in Nursing or enrolled in a MSN program.
  • Must have a minimum of 5 to 7 years of progressively responsible hospital nursing experience.
  • Governance/Nursing Practice Council Structures.
  • Demonstrated success with Project Management.
  • Experience with interpretation and display of data
  • Licensed professional nurse in the state hospital/clinic is located.
  • Excellent interpersonal/communication and consensus building skills. Genuine concern for people. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Adept listener with the ability to interpret concerns.

Responsibilities

  • Uses exceptional communication, organizational and interpersonal skills to serve as the project manager for coordination of programs
  • Oversees and coordinates the application process for programs
  • Collaborates with the Nursing Practice Council and Nursing Leadership to ensure the coordination, and facilitation for an action plan that brings this vision to reality
  • Supports departments in various Performance Improvement activities while working closely with the Department of Quality
  • Identifies opportunities and solutions that may foster change and lead to the advancement of program initiatives
  • Develops and mentors the role of program Champions in all departments in the system where nurses practice
  • Develops and mentors the Nursing Practice Council Chairs across the system and oversees the development of a Shared Governance Model in all entities
  • Develops a communication plan which keeps nurses across the system informed and linked together
  • Develops a plan to educate all partners of Mercy Health System Has familiarity with components of a programs environment and champions strategies across the system, both internal to nursing and with ancillary and support service departments.
  • Ensure direct care nurses understanding and use of quality data to drive improvement by coordinating with team members: to identify educational opportunities for clinical nursing staff, to build a team of quality resource nurses among direct care staff.
  • Identify and assist in leading strategies to improve outcomes that fall at or below benchmark.
  • Serve as a consultant and resource expert for performance improvement activities designed to improve the quality of patient care and to ensure annual unit PI projects are meaningful and measurable.
  • Ensure unit quality data boards provide meaningful and up to date information.
  • Assist with TJC preparation for constant survey readiness.
  • Assess and optimize data collection strategies to ensure reliability and accuracy.
  • Expand data collected and reported to Press Ganey (NDNQI).Strong problem solving abilities in complex situations.
  • Ability to work within the budget and productivity targets to meet organizational objectives.
  • Visible nursing representative with outstanding relationship building skills.
  • Supports process improvement in operations, quality, and organizational change.
  • Able to communicate effectively and persuasively with individuals and groups through compassion, creativity, and consistent visibility.
  • Participates in hospital and department committees.
  • Leads by example, consistently demonstrating highly professional behavior. Demonstrates personal and professional accountability.
  • Demonstrates decisiveness and an ability to gain consensus where appropriate.
  • Performs other duties as assigned
