About The Position

The Registered Nurse in the Primary Care Division working here in the Center for Women's Health is a member of a multi-disciplinary team and has the primary responsibility for and provides direct and indirect professional nursing care for patients. This includes representing the practice both in person and on the telephone, other OHSU departments, and non-OHSU facilities. The Registered Nurse assesses patient and family needs, develops a plan of care, implements and evaluates the care delivered. This position is responsible for both primary care triage and care management. Care Management is an aspect of the Primary Care Division and that will continue to grow as Primary Care grows in the Center for Women's Health. Phone triage assessment and nurse visits are also a large part of the primary care RN role at CWH. Requirements

  • Ability to lift, bend, stoop, reach, carry, push, pull and walk throughout the work period
  • Able to lift 50 lbs independently
  • Complies with the safe patient mobilization policy when lifting or positioning dependent patients, including using mechanical lifts and coordinating the assistance of other personnel
  • Must be able to use all senses: seeing, hearing, touching, smelling, and speaking. Rreasonable accommodations include corrective lenses and/or hearing aids
  • Must be able to deal with competing needs and priorities of internal and external customers, including making correct judgments regarding ensuring safe conditions for patients, families, and other personnel
  • Use of all hospital approved clinical equipment
  • Significant use of computers, copiers, multi-line phones, and fax
  • Ability to type 50 wpm

  • BSN Graduates: Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing from a program accredited by Commission of Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (CNEA) 30 days before start date
  • 2 years’ experience as a RN
  • 2 years’ experience in outpatient clinic
  • 2 years’ phone triage experience
  • ADN Graduates: Associate Degree in Nursing from an accredited program 30 days before the start date
  • Associate degree Nurses required to enroll in BSN program within 3 years of hire and complete within 5 years of hire
  • Current, unencumbered Oregon State Registered Nurse License
  • Apply for Washington RN License by the end of the orientation period
  • BLS at time of hire and must be issued by the American Heart Association (AHA)
  • BLS must not expire during orientation
  • Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without accommodation

Nice To Haves

  • BSN Nursing degree
  • 3 or more years’ nursing experience
  • 2-year current experience in Primary Care/Internal Medicine/Women’s Health
  • 3 or more years’ of experience in outpatient clinic
  • 2 years’ Care Management Experience
  • Experience using EPIC
