About the position
The RN - Cath Lab position at Baptist Health involves providing professional nursing care in the Cardiac Catheterization Lab, where advanced cardiac procedures are performed. The role includes assisting physicians during various cardiac procedures, monitoring patients, and ensuring the safe operation of cath lab equipment. The nurse will also be responsible for patient education and documentation, contributing to a compassionate care environment.
Responsibilities
- Administers, supervises, teaches, records, and evaluates nursing care in the Cardiac Cath Lab.
- Assists physicians during routine cardiac catheterization and emergency angioplasty procedures.
- Monitors adult and geriatric patients during procedures and administers care as needed.
- Operates, maintains, and troubleshoots cath lab equipment including video recorders and radiographic equipment.
- Provides nursing care during all cardiac cath procedures with technical accuracy.
- Demonstrates knowledge of cardiovascular disease and medications to provide optimum patient care.
- Records accurate medical history and physical assessments according to procedures performed.
- Assists in the orientation of new personnel.
- Takes occasional call to assist in providing 24-hour service for cardiac and stroke interventions.
Requirements
- Active Kentucky Nursing License.
- At least 2 years of experience preferred in ICU, CCU, or cardiovascular nursing.
- BCLS certification required within 90 days of employment.
- ACLS certification required within six months for experienced staff nurses and within one year for new graduate nurses.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience in advanced cardiovascular procedures.
- Knowledge of sterile technique and radiation safety.
