The Cardiac Catheterization nurse will provide quality nursing care by assessing patient status during Cardiology Related procedures. Demonstrates educational and managerial skills in dealing with other department personnel and quality assurance programs. Is responsible for nursing care for those patients in the Cardiac Cath Lab. This role will include providing pre/post procedure prep/recovery for cath lab patients. Additionally, these responsibilities will include TEE/cardioversion, administering moderate sedation, pulling sheaths, managing sheath insertion sites (radial/brachial/groin), patient education, and discharging patients when appropriate. The nurse will assist in obtaining bed assignments by coordinating with nurse supervision, provide patient transport, maintaining BLS/ACLS certifications, order supplies, and monitoring inventory. The nurse will be the Cardiac Cath Lab's primary scheduler. Responsibility includes speaking with physician office staff to ensure correct procedure scheduled and H&P available. Requires coordination with multiple departments to ensure anesthesia, echo technician, cardiopulmonary RN, and/or device rep/clinical rep will be available at scheduled time for procedures.
