About The Position

The position is for a Registered Nurse in the Mixed Cardiac/Tele and Neuro/Stroke Unit at Elmhurst Main Hospital Campus. This is a full-time role requiring 36 hours per week, with shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM, including 4-5 weekends in a 6-week period and a rotating holiday track. The nurse will demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of patients served, including both physical and psychological needs. Responsibilities include providing virtual and bedside nursing, monitoring and caring for patients, communicating patient care information, and performing patient/family education and discharge planning. Documentation of patient interactions will be done via EPIC.

Requirements

  • Associate Degree or higher in Nursing.
  • If Associate Degree in Nursing is the highest degree held, must graduate with a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing within five years of position start date.
  • Current State of Illinois Registered Nurse licensure.
  • Current CPR Certification issued by either American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) within 6 months of start date in position.
  • Stroke Scale Certification (NIHSS) within 6 months of start date in position.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Nursing.
  • 1 year of bedside inpatient nursing experience in an acute care setting, highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of patients served.
  • Provides virtual and bedside nursing to assigned patients.
  • Monitors and cares for patients.
  • Communicates patient care information to the bedside RN.
  • Acts as a knowledge resource to the bedside RN.
  • May provide medication reconciliation and completion of procedure checklists.
  • Contacts families and answers questions for the patient and/or family.
  • Performs patient/family education and discharge planning.
  • Documents patient interactions via EPIC.
