About The Position

Provide care to adult or pediatric/ congenital patients undergoing cardiac surgical procedures in the Operating Room, assisting the team in maintaining a safe and sterile environment, and serves as the patient’s advocate during the intraoperative phase of care.

  • BLS Certification Grace (BLS GRACE) - Employee Grace Period for Essential Credential (GRACE)
  • BLS Cert Red Cross (BLS RC) - Red Cross (RED CROSS)
  • Registered Nurse Compact License (RN LICENSE COMPACT) - Compact RN Multistate
  • Registered Nurse License (RN LICENSE) - State of Florida (FL)
  • Minimum of one (1) year RN experience required.
  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
  • Must be able to handle an emergency crisis and unpredictable situations.
  • Must take call and work irregular hours as needed.
  • The ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner is an essential function of this job.

Nice To Haves

  • Two (2) years of recent RN experience preferred.
  • One (1) year of Cardiovascular operating room experience preferred.
  • BSN preferred.
  • National Certification in area of clinical specialty preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and implements individual plans of care in collaboration with other members of the healthcare team in accordance with the established guidelines and standards of nursing care.
  • Maintains storage and retrieval systems for all records.
  • Maintains clinical competency in all aspects of cardiac OR and provides direct patient care as needed.
  • Conducts pre and post-operative education.
  • Demonstrates the ability to perform all functions required after hours in emergency procedures.
  • Travels outside the OR suite and to other facilities to assist with placing adult/pediatric patients on ECMO or other mechanical assist device.
  • Serves as the communication liaison to family and members of the operating team.
  • Assess and manage critically ill patients with complex heart disease throughout the procedures.
  • Provides age and developmental appropriate care to adult/pediatric patients.
  • Perform circulating functions including monitoring, recording and communicating patient condition and managing overall nursing care of patient before, during and after procedure.
