About The Position

Penrose - St. Francis Health Services is a full-service, 712-bed acute care provider in Colorado Springs, comprising Penrose Hospital, St. Francis Hospital, and St. Francis Hospital - Interquest. Penrose Hospital, established in 1890, is a 300-licensed bed anchor hospital specializing in cancer care, cardiac care, emergency trauma care, and physical rehabilitation. It is a Magnet Hospital with designation from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) for superior quality in nursing care. The location offers an incredible lifestyle with over 300 days of annual sunshine, mild winters, and easy access to recreational areas like Pikes Peak and Garden of the Gods. The Cardiology Department at Penrose Hospital is a 36-bed unit specializing in cardiology, cardiac surgery, vascular, and telemetry, handling a patient mix of cardiac, cardiac surgical, vascular, pulmonary, and arrhythmias, as well as overflow from other departments. The mission is to provide the highest quality care, fostering a great team culture and continuous learning opportunities, including cardiac classes and telemetry training. The department utilizes self-scheduling with department schedulers. Nurses are supported in a team environment with resources and leaders dedicated to their success, offering certification pay and a Clinical Career Ladder for growth and recognition. This role contributes to advancing modern nursing through skills, experience, and compassionate care within a faith-based, mission-driven culture.

Requirements

  • Associates Degree in Nursing required
  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing required for new graduates
  • RN License required
  • Current state nursing licenses or valid RN license from a participating state in the National Licensure Compact
  • Nursing skills and knowledge base specific to specialty

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelors Degree in Nursing preferred
  • One year experience preferred
  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing preferred for experienced RNs

Responsibilities

  • Facilitating, communicating, and collaborating with both the healthcare team, and the patient/family to identify and meet the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of the patient.
  • Promote the optimal health, well-being and safety of the patient through use of the nursing process and in accordance with patient care standards, guidelines and the State Nurse Practice Act.
  • Demonstrate personal accountability for relationship-based care, organizational mission, and core values.
