The Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory (Cath Lab) RN is a specialized nurse responsible for providing high-quality care to patients undergoing diagnostic and interventional cardiovascular procedures. This role involves working closely with cardiologists, radiologic technologists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure safe and effective patient care before, during, and after catheterization procedures. Prepare patients for cardiac catheterization procedures, including assessment, education, and obtaining informed consent. Monitor patients' vital signs and cardiac rhythms during procedures. Administer medications and sedation as ordered. Assist physicians during procedures such as angioplasty, stent placement, pacemaker insertion, and electrophysiology studies. Maintain sterile technique and ensure proper functioning of equipment. Provide post-procedure care, including monitoring for complications and educating patients on recovery and discharge instructions. Document all aspects of patient care accurately and timely in the electronic medical record.
