The Emergency Department at Indian River Hospital offers high-quality, compassionate care 24 hours a day, seven days a week, supported by multi-disciplinary care teams and leading-edge technology for effective diagnosis and treatment. In this role, as an RN on the Emergency Department team, you will provide exceptional care throughout the patient journey, interact directly with patients and their families, offer healthcare education, and have opportunities to advance your nursing skills and pursue leadership roles.
Requirements
- Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing (Diploma, ADN or BSN program)
- Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or ALS through the American Red Cross within one year of hire
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross within one year of hire
- One year of current acute care RN and/or Emergency Department experience
- Will consider licensed military RN experience
- Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC - adult) or Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course (ENPC - pediatric) upon hire or within 24 months of beginning work in the Emergency Department
Nice To Haves
- Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing (BSN)
- Background as an ER tech/EMT/paramedic or completion of ER practicum or preceptorship if a new grad
- National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) and/or Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) Certifications
Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care
- Implement, monitor, evaluate, update and revise patient care plans
- Monitor, record, document and communicate patients’ conditions
- Administer prescribed medications and treatments
- Note and carry out physician and nursing orders
- Assess and coordinate patients’ discharge needs
- Educate patients and their families
