RN- Brain Injury - Sunnyview Rehab - Day shift
About The Position
This full-time Registered Nurse position is for the Brain Injury unit at Sunnyview Rehab Hospital, with day shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM. The unit specializes in treating TBI’s, Comas, Hemorrhagic Stroke, and Pediatrics. The role involves assisting individuals with disability and/or chronic illness to attain and maintain maximum function. Nurses will receive training for PALS Certification, Trachs, IVs, and Wound Care. The Brain Injury unit provides unique services, including coma recovery with medical care and stimulation to encourage regaining consciousness, and is one of the few programs in the region capable of caring for minimally conscious patients. A gentle approach is used, involving patients in self-care activities and tailored stimulation. The unit also utilizes assistive technologies and devices such as ReWalk™, Ekso™ Exoskeleton, and the Litegait® system to help patients regain movement and walking ability.
Requirements
- New York State RN License
- Associates Degree in Nursing
- Strong interpersonal skills with ability to maintain the highest level of customer service while working in a fast paced environment
- Critical thinking and problem solving skills
- Passion to learn, grow and develop in the nursing field

Responsibilities
- Assist patients in adapting to an altered lifestyle, while providing a therapeutic environment for patients and their families.
- Design and implement treatment strategies that are based on scientific nursing theory related to self-care and that promote physical, psychosocial and spiritual health.
- Will be trained to perform complex patient assessments and implement intensive interventions (IE. IVP meds, hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis, ventilators, telemetry, chest tubes, tracheostomy care and weaning, tube feedings, etc).
