The RN position in the Birth Center is a part-time role on the night shift, specifically from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM, totaling 24 hours a week. The primary purpose of this role is to provide and direct safe, effective, and culturally-competent patient care for mothers and infants. Key accountabilities include assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care using critical thinking and evidence-based practice. The RN must adhere to Professional Practice Standards as defined by the ANA and actively participate in quality monitoring and performance improvement activities. The role may also expand to include labor and delivery and/or transitional nursery when effective assessment skills, independent judgment, and critical thinking are demonstrated.
