About The Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) provides direct patient care to assigned patients in the Behavioral Health Service Line Center for Addiction Services & Treatment (CAST) Clinic. The RN will primarily provide support for the physicians and act as a liaison between the patient, the front office staff, and the physicians. A successful candidate will have a clinical background preferably in psychiatry or behavioral health.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program with an Associate's Degree, Nursing Diploma, Bachelor's Degree, or Master's Degree in Nursing
• Minimum 1 year of nursing experience
• Current and valid Registered Nurse License in the State of Arkansas
• Excellent communication skills, basic computer skills, strong work ethic, and accountability
• Employee must successfully complete a UAMS-sponsored conflict management training to identify, prevent, and mitigate disruptive behaviors using methods such as non-escalation, de-escalation, personal protection from physical assaults, and physical alternatives within six months of hire.

Nice To Haves

• 2 or more years of nursing experience
• Current BLS
• Good communicational skills
• Good time management and priority management skills
• Ability to prioritize and work with autonomy
• Good organizational skills
• Familiarity with psychiatric medication and interactions
• Clinical experience with psychiatric patients and/or environment

Responsibilities

• Triage to determine the urgency of patient care
• Handle all crisis calls
• Answer medication questions in collaboration with physicians
• Take vital signs
• Review lab work and present exceptions to physicians
• Provide clinical assessment for initial call backs
• Other duties as assigned
