The BHU is a 16-bed unit; all semi private; locked unit; combined with Geripsych - See patients undergoing medication changes and need monitored - Some withdrawal or psychosis patients - Alzheimer’s and dementia are possible, but not primary population GENERAL OVERVIEW: Utilizes the nursing process to provide and direct delivery of patient care in accordance with established policies, procedures and protocols.
Requirements
- Current PA licensure as an RN
- CPR – American Heart Association
- Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance Certificate
- Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance Certificate
- Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Criminal Background Clearance Certificate
Responsibilities
- Performs initial and on-going physical and psychosocial assessment according to accepted standards of nursing practice.
- Participates in treatment team conferences to assist in planning and revising goals, objectives and interventions appropriate to the age-related and problem-specific needs of each patient.
- Implements the nursing process to delegate, provide and coordinate patient care according to the interdisciplinary plan of care.
- Facilitates and/or co-leads individual and group therapy sessions for patients.
- Evaluates patient's response to interventions and revises nursing plan of care as needed.
