About The Position

The Registered Nurse assesses, plans, directs, implements, and assists to provide quality patient care for assigned patients. The position is part of the Behavioral Health Float Pool, working day shifts at Trinity Springs Pavilion for Psychiatric Services.

Requirements

  • Nursing Diploma from an Accredited Diploma Program or Associate or higher Degree in Nursing from an accredited school of professional nursing.
  • Current licensure by the Board of Nurse Examiners for the State of Texas or proof of reciprocity of licensure within 90 days.
  • 6 months - 1.99 years of relevant experience for RN I; 2-4.99 years for RN II; 5-9.99 years for RN III; 10+ years for RN IV.
  • Certification in Non-Aggressive Crisis Management; must be obtained while in orientation and maintained throughout employment.
  • Current JPS recognized Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and must be maintained throughout employment.
  • Completion of unit specific competency-based orientation program within 90 days.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from an accredited school of professional nursing.
  • Certification in the area of nurse specialty.

Responsibilities

  • Plans, assesses, directs, implements and provides quality patient care for assigned patients.
  • Modifies nursing care, medication administration and discharge planning as needed.
  • Provides education directed towards individualized patient needs utilizing the nursing process.
  • Monitors changes in patient condition, recording and reporting symptoms, assessing vital signs and intervening when appropriate.
  • Performs complete data collection from patient presenting complaints and pertinent history.
  • Collaborates with patients to identify treatment plan goals and discharges patients with a written discharge plan.
  • Encourages family participation as appropriate for age and situation.
  • Documents accurately in medical records and enters appropriate orders and patient charges.
  • Delivers quality care using multi-disciplinary team strategies and minimizing the risk of infection, harm, or injury.
  • Maintains accurate detailed reports and records.
  • Works to maintain a good rapport and cooperative working relationship with physicians, departments, staff, patients, and visitors.
  • Anticipates deteriorating life sign patterns or equipment malfunctions and takes appropriate action.
  • Modifies patient treatment plans as indicated by patients' responses and conditions.
  • Collaborates with patient care team members on patient care plan.
  • Conducts and coordinates patient care and patient transfers in accordance with EMTALA regulations.
  • Performs additional department-specific functions as outlined in department procedures.
