About The Position

This nursing position will join a collaborative team of outpatient behavioral health professionals committed to Carle's mission and values. Will work in a department with 10 physicians and APP's plus 10 psychologists and counselors). Outpatient Behavioral Health population ages 5 and up. Provides phone triage, education and support; multi-tasking with returning phone calls/portal messages/helping during clinic/returning messages to PSR staff trying to schedule patients. Number of Physicians or APP: 10 physicians and APP’s who nurses work directly with (plus 10 psychologists and counselors) Patient population (age, diagnosis, specifics about Clinic): Outpatient Behavioral Health population ages 5 and up Department culture and resources: We are a collaborative, team-based department who work together to deliver high-quality behavioral health services Frequent nursing skills/equipment used: Phone triage is essential; provides education and support; multi-tasking with returning phone calls/portal messages/helping during clinic/returning messages to PSR staff trying to schedule patients to name a few; organizational skills and being able to prioritize is key – we have a very fast paced practice

Requirements

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days - American Heart Association (AHA)American Heart Association (AHA)American Heart Association (AHA)

  • H.S. Diploma/GED

Responsibilities

  • Provides and facilitates competent health care of patients and families in area of practice.
  • Ensures adherence to established standards of care and scope of practice.
  • Ensures documentation of care is complete and accurate.
  • Provides health and wellness education to individuals and groups.
  • Acts as preceptor and supports the development of other staff and healthcare students.
  • Provides leadership for initiatives designed to improve the quality of care or clinical outcomes.
  • Assists Nursing Supervisor/coordinator in the development of departmental standing orders.
  • Assist with coordination of care for patients age 0-150.
  • Perform telephone triage of both acute and chronic needs for patients age 0-150.
  • Assist with in office wound care and other procedures such as lesion removal.
  • Provide in office education for patients with newly diagnosed diabetes between ages 0-150.
  • Administration of immunizations and medications to patients age 0-150.
