About The Position

The position is for a part-time Registered Nurse in the Infusion department at Carolinas Medical Center. The role requires working 36 hours within a 6-week schedule, with additional hours available. Some weekend shifts are required, and the day shift hours are from 0730 to 1700 or 0800 to 1630. The nurse will be responsible for identifying expected outcomes for patients' individualized treatment plans, implementing treatment plans, providing education and counseling to patients and families, and meeting the specific clinical needs of oncology and infusion patients. The nurse must also recognize medication incompatibilities and perform facility acuity coding.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing required.
  • Current licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse or temporary license as a Registered Nurse Petitioner in the applicable state required.
  • BSN preferred.
  • Oncology experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in IV therapy, bone marrow, spinals, thoracenteses, paracenteses and phlebotomy preferred.
  • Oncology certification preferred.
  • BLS required per policy guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Identifies expected outcomes for patients' individualized treatment plan.
  • Implements identified treatment plan and coordinates all aspects of care delivery.
  • Provides education and counseling to patient and family members regarding identified health needs, health care activities, immunization requirements, medication effects and contraindications.
  • Meets specific clinical needs of oncology and infusion patients by using knowledge and expertise.
  • Recognizes medication mid solution incompatibilities and factors affecting stability.
  • Performs facility acuity coding by selecting the appropriate level of service for a diverse patient population, ensures that all pertinent clinical information is documented in the patient's medical record and supports the level of service selected.
