The RN Ambulatory Triage Nurse plays a critical role in coordinating patient care within the outpatient setting. This position serves as the central communication hub between patients, providers, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure timely, accurate, and clinically appropriate care delivery. This role is primarily desk-based, with a strong focus on telephone and electronic triage using EPIC to manage all patient care actions and documentation. The nurse handles a high volume of MyChart messages, phone encounters, refill requests, staff communications, and pending orders while exercising strong clinical judgment, prioritization, and independent decision-making A caregiver in this position works M-F| 8:00am—4:30pm or you may work 4-10 hours shifts 7:00am—5:30pm| no holidays or weekends.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing (Diploma,ADN or BSN program)
  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
  • One year of recent experience as an RN OR LPN, Medical Assistant and/or other unlicensed clinical healthcare experience if applicant is a current Cleveland Clinic caregiver in an ambulatory setting transferring into an RN role but remaining in the same current ambulatory Cleveland Clinic setting OR a current Cleveland Clinic caregiver in a clinical role within the same specialty area transferring into an ambulatory area

Responsibilities

  • Provide professional nursing care in an ambulatory setting.
  • Assess health status, complete nursing assessments, perform telephone triage, and establish care plans.
  • Administer medication and treatments.
  • Initiate CPR and other emergency measures.
  • Notify the physician and/or Licensed Independent Provider (LIP) of abnormal findings.
  • Assist with specialized diagnostic procedures, therapeutic procedures, and specialized patient care equipment.
  • Develop, evaluate, adapt and document health education and provide it to patients and families.
  • Cover other nursing roles within the department.
  • Travel within the region to support physician clinics and surgical procedures, as needed.
