About The Position

In this position, you will independently place IVs, prepare and administer medications safely, and closely monitor patients throughout infusion therapies, recognizing and escalating side effects when necessary. You will ensure all supplies are organized and ready for procedures, maintain a strong focus on patient safety, and engage in challenging conversations with empathy, clarity, and professionalism—all while demonstrating flexibility, reliability, strong communication skills, and a team-oriented mindset. A caregiver in this position works 4-10 hour shifts, from 7:00am - 5:30pm.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing (ADN or BSN program)
  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (must be obtained within 30 days of hire in not already certified)
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certifications through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
  • One year of recent experience as an RN OR LPN, Medical Assistant and/or other unlicensed clinical healthcare experience if applicant is a current Cleveland Clinic caregiver in an ambulatory setting transferring into an RN role but remaining in the same current ambulatory Cleveland Clinic setting OR a current Cleveland Clinic caregiver in a clinical role within the same specialty area transferring into an ambulatory area

Responsibilities

  • Administer medications safely and accurately.
  • Place IVs and prepare medications for infusion.
  • Maintain patient safety at all times, with continuous monitoring as appropriate.
  • Observe and document side effects, escalating concerns when necessary.
  • Ensure correct supplies are available and organized for procedures.
  • Engage in difficult conversations with caregivers with professionalism, empathy, and clarity
  • Provide professional nursing care in an ambulatory setting.
  • Assess health status, complete nursing assessments, perform telephone triage, and establish care plans.
  • Initiate CPR and other emergency measures.
  • Notify the physician and/or Licensed Independent Provider (LIP) of abnormal findings.
  • Assist with specialized diagnostic procedures, therapeutic procedures, and specialized patient care equipment.
  • Develop, evaluate, adapt and document health education and provide it to patients and families.
  • Cover other nursing roles within the department.
  • Travel within the region to support physician clinics and surgical procedures, as needed.
